today at work was kind of long but if one busys ones self it goes pretty fast.. the problem can be when you make yourself busy whilst others are content to do literally nothing... it gets frustrating.. i always hope that my working consistently will inspire others to do so-- unfortunately it inspires others to say things like " gee you're making us feel bad.. are you really going to keep working on that stuff?" - yes .. yes i am. but oh well we all have to get through the day what ever way we can. although i did get a compliment from a co-worker today at the berry.. he said to me "i've been meaning to tell you i've noticed a change around here since you've arrived." ( i thought to ma'self... i havent stolen any good dvds... and the new copy of deadwood is still in circulation... ) and he said "since you've been here things are much more relaxed even our boss (the fwb a.k.a. the humorless fwb) is more laid back about everything" i take this as a compliment and am delighted - i've also heard this said to me about my working at the school.... i will attribute it to this ... NOTHING IS THAT BIG A FUCKING DEAL.. we're not doing cancer surgery ... or operating a nuclear power plant... in about 98% of jobs you should really never take stuff too seriously and when confronted.. act like your serious but in such a way that most people "in the know" dig that it's false.... ITS WORK PEOPLE... WE HAVE TO DO IT ... MAKE IT FUN.. WHY WOULD YOU DO ANYTHING THAT CAUSES YOU EXTREME AMOUNTS OF DIAAAHRRREAH OR ULCERS OR IS ADVERSE TO YOU IN ANY WAY.... IF THAT IS YOUR JOB CHANGE IT OR CHANGE THE WAY YOU DO IT... life is waaay to short to spend 8 hours a day in hyper serious mode.
that is just me - i'm of course a confessed ultra light person. and i believe there are people who thrive on "my oh so serious, ulcer causing job is #1" and if you dig that kudos (as michael york would say it) to you. but meanwhile you must find time to enjoy your cake. hymen roth did.

There you have it my tribute to the fourth of july. its now the 5th of july which i much prefer.. i'd like to go outside and blow off some fireworks to celebrate the end of fireworks. not really.
4th of july easily my least favorite holiday up there with christmas but for different reasons.. odd thing is i generally have a pretty good time on the 4th!!
i celebrated the 3rd of july by going to dinner with ma'parents and ma'aunt thea. that was nice.. we stopped for ice cream after...(psssst.. i don't like ice cream - but i had a fat free lemon sorbet that was pretty f--ing fab). then the 4th i woke up loathing the day but to my delight first sybil was on tv then the #1 greatest retard movie ever (as voted on unanimously by me and dirt) BILL was on.. you know starring mickey rooney. why he ever played anything other then a retarded guy for his whole career is dumbfounding. such a great movie! so happy. then off to the welk/lopixx for some delish bbq chicken - that was really nice... although they're becoming shut in's... they are sickened by the notion of leaving the house.. while its o.k. now and understandable because they both work alot and want to stay at home and be with una... if it continues to where meals on wheels is delivering stuff and they're watching mass for shut ins on the weekend there may be a need for intervention (although i think the latter is an impossibility because they believe god is as real as flying monkeys...) --- then i went with the flying v's over to chris and lauries new pad... its righteous and good. had beers saw some fireworks rap'ed with people who i think are kick ass and terrific.. went home - hit the rack and low and behold i woke up and today was like monday junior. worked....long day but it went really fast. and tomorrow i have a redic. short day which is awesome.... 9:30-1:30 is that really a shift?? - more like a visit. then maybe to the pool! i got the pixxxies birfday comin up so i should probably look for something for him other then the AMERICAN IDOL candy light up microphone i already gave him. so there you have it.
rest of the week... thurs. work short shift - friday work all day... off sat and sunday then i'm OFF ALL NEXT WEEK BABY!! hooray hooray thats gonna be a time for bottle rockets... i've not had a series of full days off in what seems like forever. also i just found out that we have to submit our request for vacation days from sept - dec. and i've not only still got an assload of hours left but i've also got first calll on what days i want.. not that theres ever major conflict but its good.
so now i've got ma'ice water and i'm goin to bed.
i had a good salad today.
but no cake... given the events of the week prior its been hard to want to enjoy my cake... but truly i know amanda would want me to do so and really what is life if you're not enjoying your cake? - i can answer that- it is bullshit!
